Washing Dishes: That Inevitable Task After Cooking!
Tired of doing dishes by hand, or is your machine noisy or inefficient? Today's advanced dishwashers offer really great features, like greater loading flexibility, a much quieter operation, and greater energy efficiency than units made only a few years ago. Choosing the right tub size capacity for your needs will help you save time, money, and lots of energy. If your dishwasher is too small for your daily use, you will waste water and time running multiple loads or washing dishes again that did not get clean in the over-loaded machine. Here is where we can help you determine the absolute best machine for your money, based on your dishwashing needs and frequency.
If your kitchen space is at a minimum, you may want to consider a portable unit. These machines have easy rolling wheels, nicely finished exteriors, and usually feature nice butcher block tops. They are equipped with simple and quick water hookups to attach to your sink faucet. The handiest feature of these portable units is that they can be rolled right into a closet or under a stairwell so they are right out of sight when not in use.

Saving Water and Electricity with ANY Model
Whether or not you choose to purchase a standard or highly efficient dishwasher, you can still save a great deal of energy while washing dishes by maintaining simple practices.
1. Always operate your dishwasher with a full load of dishes. Most of the energy used by a dishwasher goes to heating the water. Since you can’t decrease the amount of water used per cycle, fill your dishwasher to get the most from the energy used to run it.
2. Have a real small load of dishes and you need to wash them? Fill up your machine with other things than can be safely cleaned inside: vases, cookie sheets, dusty plates from the closet, etc. Now you can get extra cleaning done at the same time.
3. Scrape off food from your dishes of food prior to putting them in the machine. Check and clean the dishwasher drain as necessary. Solid pieces of food waste can build up over the dishwasher drain and cause the dishwasher to work harder.
5. Avoid using the heat-dry, rinse-hold and pre-rinse features. Instead use your dishwasher’s air-dry option if it has one.

More Efficient than Hand Washing?
Scientists at the University of Bonn in Germany found that the dishwasher uses only half of the energy, just one sixth of the water, and much less soap than hand washing an identical set of dirty dishes. Even the most frugal and careful hand washers in the study could not beat the modern dishwasher. The study also found that dishwashers excelled in cleanliness over hand washing.
